Position Summary
At HackerOne, we are redefining how the world thinks about security and how companies earn trust in an AI-driven era. As a Senior Communications Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping how our story shows up in the market, from breaking cybersecurity news to high-impact media narratives and social storytelling that drives engagement and action.
This role sits within the Brand and Growth Marketing team and is designed for a modern communicator: someone who can navigate real-time moments, lead through ambiguity, and turn complex security topics into compelling stories that capture attention. You will own and execute communications strategies that elevate HackerOne’s voice in tier-one media, drive meaningful social engagement, and position us at the center of the most important conversations in cybersecurity.
What You Will Do
Success in the Senior Communications Manager role will be accomplished by delivering on the responsibilities below in alignment with the Values and Principles that define how we work at HackerOne:
Lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategies that elevate HackerOne’s presence in tier-one media and drive measurable engagement across social and digital channels, applying Data-Driven Decision Making to continuously refine approach and impact
Identify and capitalize on real-time cybersecurity trends and news moments, inserting HackerOne into relevant conversations with speed and clarity through Change Agility, ensuring the brand remains timely, credible, and differentiated
Own external storytelling across press, social, and thought leadership by translating complex security topics into clear, compelling narratives grounded in First Principles Problem Solving
Build and execute high-impact media strategies, including developing strong, differentiated pitches that secure top-tier coverage and position HackerOne as a category leader
Lead crisis communications efforts, including message development, rapid response coordination, and media engagement, maintaining composure and clarity in high-stakes situations through Change Agility
Drive a modern, attention-oriented social media approach that goes beyond standard posting—experimenting with formats, narratives, and channels (including video) to expand reach and engagement
Apply an AI First mindset to scale communications impact, leveraging AI tools to enhance content creation, media monitoring, trend identification, and workflow efficiency
Manage and provide strategic direction to external PR agencies and contractors, ensuring alignment with business goals, quality of execution, and consistent storytelling across channels
